Full-Stack Production Capabilities from R&D to Industrial Scale.

  • Engineering & Planning

The old adage that “Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance” is true.

So we work with you to create success from the start of the manufacturing process, with complete engineering and process planning to reduce risks and guarantee outcomes.

The Baker team is organized to enable integrated engineering and machining services so your entire project is managed, not just a single element.

Mission-critical parts can’t fail. Simply over-engineering everything might have been OK in the slide rule days, but that doesn’t work when efficiency is a requirement, metal prices change daily, and global supply chains are scrutinized at every point.

That’s why the Baker team works closely with you to build-in purpose and eliminate waste.

  • Machining & Crafting

Baker Manufacturing owns a wide range of advanced vertical and horizontal CNC machines, lathes, and mills at multiple Baker facilities in the United States. And our committed supplier network enables us to leverage the talents and specialties of local machine shops that we proudly do business with, some for over 50 years.

Every part made by Baker is machined according to the detailed engineering and planning process that is critical to all production, from novel R&D work to long-term, industrial-scale production and delivery.

Test runs and in-process inspections allow us to discover even the most minuscule challenge to the production plan early in the manufacturing process, so we can work with you ASAP to solve and produce.

Baker machinists and metalworkers are true craftsman, who take absolute pride in whatever they produce.

  • Inspecting & Finishing

With Baker’s full suite of inspection tools, gauges, micrometers, granite tables, and state-of-the-art 3D scanning systems, we are able to maintain the strict standards defined in our ISO9001:2015 and AS9100D certifications, with NADCAP processing as required. The products we make can be MIL-SPEC certified.

The Baker Inspection Process can include DFARS-level documentation, with trace mineral / Material Safety Data, country-of-origin tracing, and digital file documentation with thousand-point 3D scanning.

Product finishing is a key function defined in the engineering and production plan, with the ultimate end-state visualized throughout the manufacturing process, from choosing the right metal block to the final polish and packaging.

Whether your part is anodized, painted, or polished, it should look like a work of art.

  • Documenting & Packaging

When you receive your final product from Baker, it will be clean, error-free, and a fine example of the highest quality for everything we produce.

In addition to Baker’s environmentally-conscious machining and recycling processes, we use certified cleaning products and environmentally-friendly packaging. For the space/satellite industry, we can clean-room vacuum pack your parts or assemblies with provenance assurance you can count on when you open those products in your own clean room.

We provide coordinated identification marks and placards along with product documentation, so your receiving team will be able to rapidly process products into your workflow. We use our own regional delivery trucks, and provide end-to-end tracking with photos and tagging for professional shipping.

Full-Stack Production

Baker can create, manage, produce, and deliver complete manufactured systems. From parts to assemblies to total components, Baker engineers provide turn-key production.

5-Axis Machining

With innovative 5th Axis systems, advanced CNC machines, and Baker ingenuity, we can manufacture bespoke parts or high-volume, precision components for any requirement.

Metals, Exotics & Plastics

Baker’s experienced requisition team can source titanium, aluminum, plastics, carbon, exotic metals, and stainless, inconel, and many other steels from reliable national sources.

NADCAP Processing

In addition to Baker’s certified ISO9001:2105 & AS9100D processes, Baker can produce to NADCAP standards, for industry consensus-based supply chain standards.

Honing & Finishing

For ultra-smooth finishes and improved bore geometries, Baker’s finishing services can provide the extreme precisions required for absolute-tolerance assemblies and components.

Gear Hobbing

To machine spurs, helical gears, and motor parts, Baker’s hobbing services enable gear, spline, and sprocket cutting for quick & efficient production of a wide range of key parts.

Electric Discharge Machining

EDM can be used to machine extremely hard materials to very close tolerances, along with the manufacture of small parts otherwise difficult for CNC.

Anodizing & Coating

Along with hundreds of coating options, Baker can turn non-ferrous metal surfaces into durable, corrosion-resistant finishes with anodizing - perfect for aluminum & titanium.

Quality Assurance/Control

For mission-critical components, Baker’s QA/QC processes include Ultrasound, C Scan Reporting, Materials Certifications, hi-res photos, and precise digital files for complete confidence.

Grinding

Cylindrical, centerless, surface, and form grinding, plus tool and cutter grinding, are services Baker can provide in the finishing process, also for materials too hard for milling and turning.

Industrial Planning

Baker’s engineering services include materials analysis, structural integrity, and efficiency & productivity planning for successful industrial-scale production planning.

Tooling Re-Fresh

For tool & die systems, heavy use can leave them in need of tuning and updating. Baker’s tooling services include the repair and re-freshing of any kind of tool & die sets and systems.

Cutting & Welding

Baker’s ability to provide MIG/TIG, Waterjet, Laser, Laser Etch, and other cutting and welding processes means that we can manage your complete project from start-to-finish.

Tooling Development

Baker engineers provide thermal analysis, 3D scanning, and application testing to develop tooling that makes your product perfect from the start.

3D Additive Manufacturing

For metals, plastics, and a range of novel materials, new 3D printing or “additive manufacturing” technologies can be leveraged for testing and evaluation or scaled manufacturing.
